Things We Need More Of In 2018

Happy New Year!

Time is precious but it waits for no one so make the most of the time that you have. This year, I want to do more things that make me happy. We don’t realise how lucky we are. We have a roof over our heads, food to eat, family and friends, but…we take this for granted. This year, why not go out of your way to spend more time with your loved ones? Why not focus on helping others? (without expecting anything in return).

Why not “be the change that you wish to see in the world”? – Mahatma Gandhi

Here are a few things we need more of in 2018.

-more people of colour in the media-

2017 saw this happen more than ever before, but it doesn’t have to stop there. The media is being overpopulated by the same kind of people. We need more cultures being represented in the media. Whether it be movies, books, music, the government/people in power. We need brands to push diversity. We need to show more appreciation and love to all the beautiful cultures and races in this world.

-more women in positions of power-

The Women’s March was a huge highlight of 2017. Something that was long overdue. As women, we need to take a stand. We shouldn’t let ourselves be walked over. When we put our minds to something, nothing can hold us back. It’s about taking the first step. We need to be positive role models to the girls out there who think that being a woman means less power or opportunities.

-more positive thinkers-

In a world where war and injustice seem to be the norm, we need positive thinkers who will still have hope for the future. People who use the negative things that happen and are able to create something positive out of it. People who are willing to go the extra mile for others.
