“SPREAD THE TRUTH” – A VISUAL GUIDE + THINK PIECE
Persistently keep learning, doing & sharing –
even behind the scenes where no one’s watching –
strive to figure out what’s important & get rid of distractions.
We dwell in a world where “fake news” is the norm while important news goes unnoticed. Climate change, political parties, social media, people suffering from natural disasters. E v e r y t h i n g fake and real gets sucked up in a vacuum and becomes jumbled up in our minds. We don’t know what’s true anymore. We don’t know what we should be focusing on. What we should stand for. So we settle to live in a state of oblivion half the time because it’s easier to be neutral, to say nothing, do nothing. To watch the world go by. It’s safe. It works. But it doesn’t change things.
Why campaign for the all-important “seat at the table,” when we’ll only choose to sit back and watch?
The saying “the truth will set you free” is powerful. We need to take hold of what we know is right and proclaim it.
If you’re reading this right now, you have a phone, laptop, or just a simple internet source. You have power even though it may seem small.
We need to actively observe what’s occurring in our world. Earth is our home and we should be concerned about it and the people residing in it. Yes, Brexit is a thing. But did you know that Boko Haram, the jihadist terrorist organization based in northeastern Nigeria, has been killing thousands of Nigerian Christians? (and it’s still happening.) On the other hand, did you know that Indonesia raised the minimum age for brides in order to end child marriage?
This is an example of news, both good and bad, that we should know about and talk about. The more people know about it, the more of a chance there actually is for more to be done. Indonesia raising the minimum age for brides didn’t just happen. People talked about it and kept on talking about it until something happened.
When we come across things that need to be shared, we should just do it.
It can be tempting to remain silent. But if we truly want to make a difference we need to know that it takes not only the big things but the little ones too. Injecting truth into our daily life will impact those around us and it will spread.
Let’s tackle oblivious living.
